Power & Electrical
Power in a Spartan is built around reliability and ease of use. Whether you’re parked up off-grid or plugged in at a campsite, every system is designed to give you what you need — quietly, efficiently, and without complication.
We’ve spent years refining our electrical setup to balance performance and simplicity. The result is a system that just works, wherever you take it.
From plug sockets and wireless chargers to integrated lighting and intuitive control systems, everything has been meticulously thought out. Each element is placed where it makes the most sense — no awkward reaches, no confusion, just clean, functional design. You can monitor power levels, control lighting zones, and charge devices without digging through panels or switching between menus.
It’s the small touches that make it work so well: lighting where you need it, power where you use it, and controls that feel natural from day one. It’s the difference between simply having power and actually being able to live comfortably off it.
Core Electrical System
Every Spartan camper includes a fully integrated 12V and 230V electrical system, professionally installed and tested in-house. All wiring is neatly concealed, fused, and clearly labelled for easy maintenance and peace of mind.
Power comes from a 100Ah Fogstar lithium battery fitted as standard — lightweight, durable, and built to deliver consistent power wherever you travel. Charging is handled by the Sargent DX320-12 split charger, which keeps the battery topped up automatically while you’re on the move. When you’re plugged in at a campsite, the smart charger manages power efficiently between the mains and leisure systems to keep everything running smoothly.
Inside, 230V sockets power standard household appliances, while the 12V and USB outlets are conveniently located in the kitchen splashback, keeping them easy to reach without cluttering the worktop. A wireless fast charger is built discreetly into the surface, keeping cables off the counter and the kitchen area clear.
Lighting is split into individually switched LED zones, letting you control the environment to suit the moment — bright for cooking, dim for evenings, or off completely for a peaceful night. A built-in reading light with USB charger in the pop-top area means you can read or charge your phone comfortably while you wind down.
Heating and ventilation are handled by an Autoterm diesel night heater, keeping the van warm when temperatures drop and circulating air when it’s hot. Simple, efficient, and easy to control.
At the heart of it all, a digital control panel brings the system together — letting you monitor battery levels, manage lighting zones, and stay in control of your power with confidence.
Off-Grid Capability
For longer trips or wild camping, you can upgrade your Spartan with additional power options that extend your freedom and comfort away from mains hook-ups.
A 200W roof-mounted solar panel works quietly in the background, capturing energy throughout the day and feeding it back into your leisure battery via a smart solar regulator. It allows for genuine extended off-grid use, keeping your fridge, lighting, and devices powered for days at a time — even in mixed weather.
For those who like to roam further, the 300Ah lithium battery upgrade provides serious capacity, giving you more stored power and faster recharge times. When paired with the 1600W inverter, it delivers true off-grid capability, allowing you to run 230V household appliances such as kettles, hairdryers, or laptops without relying on a campsite electric hook-up.
The external mains hook-up point, neatly fitted on the driver’s-side rear panel, means that when you do want to connect, it’s quick and straightforward.
Together, these systems are designed to keep your lights, fridge, heating, and devices running reliably wherever you park up — so you can stay out longer and travel with complete independence.
Built for Safety and Reliability
Every electrical component is individually tested before installation and again before handover. We don’t rely on assumptions — every circuit, fuse, and connector is checked, measured, and proven to perform safely under load. All cables are correctly sized, fuses rated for their specific purpose, and connections professionally crimped using high-grade tools and terminals. It’s the kind of attention to detail you don’t see once the van is finished, but you’ll feel it every time you switch something on.
All electrical systems are built to meet or exceed UK camper conversion safety standards, giving you confidence that your Spartan is as safe as it is capable. Circuits are fully protected, and power distribution is laid out logically, so you can identify and access every part if needed — no hidden spaghetti of wires or improvised joins.
It’s a setup built the Spartan way — tidy, accessible, and built to last. Every connection is solid, every cable run is secured, and every switch is positioned with purpose. You won’t find tangled wiring or awkward controls here — just clean engineering, smart routing, and thoughtful placement designed to keep your power system dependable for years of use.
